Law Student Scholar
This program is open to students of color that have been admitted to an ABA accredited law school within the U.S. or one that is a currently a law student. Such individuals must prove that they are low-income and at a disadvantage of paying their law school tuition in addition to affording their textbooks and school supplies. The aim of this program to bring together current and new law students of color, ethnic, socioeconomic, and geographic backgrounds and help them to produce a stellar application to the law school of their choice.
Given this, only five students will be chosen and there will be a fifty-dollar non-refundable application fee. Scholars are eligible to receive up to $300.00 to help pay for their LSAT study course, credential assembly service for 3 applications, and law school application fees. Scholars will participate in a one-day event that presents scholars how to prepare for law school financially, emotionally, and mentally which will be coordinated by lawyers and current law students.

Requirements

-Demonstrate excellent academic and personal achievement
-Must be a current law student or a recent 1L at an ABA accredited law school within the U.S. whose background, experience, personal attributes, and characteristics contribute to the mission statement of Lawyers With Melanin®, Inc.
-Demonstrate financial need
-Must be a legal resident of the U.S. or a citizen.
How To Apply

-Submit a personal statement describing how you meet the listed criteria and why you would like to become a lawyer (no more than 3 pages, double spaced)
-Provide a copy of your resume/CV
-Provide transcripts from all colleges/universities attended (Unofficial is acceptable)
-Submit copy of most recent FAFSA or Student Aid Report from undergraduate or graduate school
-All files must be submitted in pdf format
-Must have a minimum 2.9 GPA at their current law school or from undergraduate/graduate studies.
